A Nurse Practitioner (NP) finishes a new patient consult, diagnoses a patient, and creates a plan of care they both agree. The patient is happy and appreciative of his care. But, he is surprised however and asks the NP, What are you?
Has that ever happened to you? How did you feel?
In this case, the patient asked because he was told the NP was many other things - A "Nurse," A "Midlevel," Not a "Physician." However, they never really did explain to the patient, his provider was a Nurse Practitioner.
